We may joke that Harley the cockatoo is RIPR's official fire alarm, but our new building will need a little bit more than what even Harley can provide us before we can move our adoptable flock safely over. With an average of 80 birds onsite in our care, safety is of the utmost importance. Our new building will continue to need improvements to ensure our flock and volunteers are safe in a rescue building that will serve Rhode Island for a long time to come.
It's a BIG undertaking, but with time, and a lot of helping hands, we CAN hold up that safety net!
For RIPR's 7th Annual Giving Day on Sept 16th, we will be raising money to offset the cost of a new Fire Safety System in our new building. The current system was implemented in the early 90's and we have no record of service. The additional upgrades include: an addressable fire panel, 4 new strobes, carbon monoxide detectors, new exit signs, and fire extinguishers. The addressable fire panel will allow our system to be connected to the generator in the case of an emergency!
