Who We Are

RESCUE | REHABILITATE | ADOPT | EDUCATE

Rhode Island Parrot Rescue is the only 501(c)3 non profit rescue in the state of Rhode Island to focus exclusively on rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing exotic birds to qualified homes for adoption.

A small, independent rescue, our team of dedicated volunteers provide daily care for each bird in our flock. This includes a well-balanced pelleted diet, fresh water, fruits and vegetables, interaction and training in a clean, safe environment.

A messy beak is a happy beak

Pickles is a Yellow-Shouldered Amazon rescued from a large scale breeding situation in 2016. RIPR took in 117 birds at once and they all received basic care, including fresh veggies, starting from day one.

Pickles received extensive socialization training, safe toys to shred, and lots of mango in the following years. He was adopted in 2020 by a loving family.

“Everyone here puts their hearts and souls into the rescue. Truly wonderful people with an amazing mission. They love every bird that comes through their doors, giving them the very best care. They want the very best for the birds and their new families. Extremely thorough and go above and beyond including education and any other questions or concerns no matter how much time has passed since you have adopted. Without hesitation we would adopt again(we sure plan on it!)”

— D. Shelvey

“If I was a parrot and needed to be rescued, this is the place I would want to be! The quality of care is of utmost importance for the health and well being of the birds staying at this rescue.”

— Maureen A.

“Excellent bird rescue -- best place in the state to help and find the bird of your dreams.”

— Stefanie B.

“ This rescue has more heart then people in the world. The staff are passionate and knowledgeable about the feather children they care for. I adopted my Amazon from RIPR. Without RIPR hundreds of parrots would be in despair. Give a piece of yourself as a volunteer or monetarily. You will fill your soul in the most surprising way. Thank you RIPR! You are truly appreciated!”
